To be born again is all about experiencing a fresh spiritual awakening through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s not about going through the physical process of being born again, but rather about receiving a new life that comes from God. Jesus shared this profound truth with Nicodemus in John 3:3:
“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
Here’s a simple guide on how to be born again according to the Bible:
- Acknowledge your need for salvation
The Bible tells us, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We can’t save ourselves; we truly need God’s forgiveness.
- Have faith in Jesus Christ
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who sacrificed Himself for our sins and rose from the dead. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
- Turn away from sin
Repentance is about turning away from sin and turning back to God. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out” (Acts 3:19).
- Declare Jesus as Lord
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
- Welcome Him by faith
Invite Jesus into your heart and surrender your life to Him. “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
- Embrace your new life
Being born again marks the start of a new journey with God. Dive into the Bible, pray, connect with a community of believers, and let the Holy Spirit work in you every day. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Prayer for salvation
